Bikes and Brews

Kirkwood Mountain Resort is hosting their very first Kirkwood Bikes and Brews festival on July 29th.  This family friendly event is not one to be missed!  Activities include unlimited beer sampling, live music by Lebo and Friends, bike racing, dining, kids activities and more!  Join the fun and help support the Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association.  A portion of all proceeds will be donated to TAMBA who are “dedicated to the stewardship of sustainable, multiple-use trails and to preserving access for mountain bikers through advocacy, education and promotion of responsible trail use.” Tickets are now on sale at the Kirkwood General Store and Tickets Office in the Village Plaza.  You can also purchase them online at Bit.ly/KirkwoodBikesAndBrews

Annual 5K/10K Run

The Annual 5K/10K is planned for the morning of September 2 beginning at 9 am in front of The Lodge.  This fun event has been taking place in Kirkwood each Labor Day weekend for 36 years.   Presented by the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department, the 10K trail adventure run follows a single track and a dirt road 3 miles up the mountain to an elevation of 8,500 feet.  The 5K loops the gorgeous Thunder Saddle meadow.  Gather your family and friends and register online now by visiting kmpud.com after July 10.  Race day registration takes place from 8:00 – 8:45 am at The Lodge. The Kids’ race kicks off at 9 a.m. with the 5K and 10K to follow. Net proceeds from the event benefit the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department.

17th Annual ‘Thin Air’ Chili Cook Off

The Thin Air Chili Cook Off is planned for Saturday, September 2 from noon until 5 pm.  The event, sponsored by the Kirkwood Meadows Public Utility District, features the region’s top chili makers, beer and wine tasting, live music with Mo’z Motley Blues and activities for kids.   Chili, beer/wine tasting kits include a commemorative glass and cost $30 for adults over 21 years of age.  Chili tasting kits without beer and wine tasting are $10. If you would like to enter your favorite chili, please contact Jessica at the District 209.258.4444 for more information.  Purchase tickets on the Village Plaza on the day of the event or online at kmpud.com after July 3.   Cash prizes will be awarded for Best Chili, Crowd Favorite and Best Booth.  100% of the net proceeds will benefit the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department’s equipment needs.
