Annual 5K/10K Run

The Annual 5K/10K is planned for the morning of September 2 beginning at 9 am in front of The Lodge.  This fun event has been taking place in Kirkwood each Labor Day weekend for 36 years.   Presented by the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department, the 10K trail adventure run follows a single track and a dirt road 3 miles up the mountain to an elevation of 8,500 feet.  The 5K loops the gorgeous Thunder Saddle meadow.  Gather your family and friends and register online now by visiting kmpud.com after July 10.  Race day registration takes place from 8:00 – 8:45 am at The Lodge. The Kids’ race kicks off at 9 a.m. with the 5K and 10K to follow. Net proceeds from the event benefit the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department.

17th Annual ‘Thin Air’ Chili Cook Off

The Thin Air Chili Cook Off is planned for Saturday, September 2 from noon until 5 pm.  The event, sponsored by the Kirkwood Meadows Public Utility District, features the region’s top chili makers, beer and wine tasting, live music with Mo’z Motley Blues and activities for kids.   Chili, beer/wine tasting kits include a commemorative glass and cost $30 for adults over 21 years of age.  Chili tasting kits without beer and wine tasting are $10. If you would like to enter your favorite chili, please contact Jessica at the District 209.258.4444 for more information.  Purchase tickets on the Village Plaza on the day of the event or online at kmpud.com after July 3.   Cash prizes will be awarded for Best Chili, Crowd Favorite and Best Booth.  100% of the net proceeds will benefit the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department’s equipment needs.
